While I agree with going to the Moon and Mars. I don't agree with letting the Hubble rot as part of that plan. The Hubble has been a fountain of real scientific data for years now and is too valuable to let die on the vine. Surely we can spare one pit stop by the Hubble to repair and upgrade her in the next couple of years.
Posted by jherr at January 17, 2004 08:18 AMthat was never the plan. There is a new better telescope in the works that I think is due out in 2011 to replace it.
"The NASA plan calls for a Hubble servicing mission in 2006, possibly followed by another one a few years later, that could keep the Hubble in space far beyond even the launch of the new James Webb Space Telescope in 2011."
Posted by: Lori at January 17, 2004 09:31 AMSorry I didn't realize NASA made new announcements about it.
