Funny thing happened at the Macaroni Grill

On our way into Ocala Lori and I stopped at the Macaroni Grill for dinner. While we were waiting for our food the hostess broke out into an aria a couple of tables down from us. She did a great job as well.

As we were getting ready to go she came near by so I asked her what the aria was. It was from Tosca. One thing lead to another and she sang Libiamo, ne'lieti calici from La Traviata for us. It was a shortened version, but it was great. To thank her we gave out waitress a nice tip in the hope that it would be pooled.

Don't you love Macaroni Grill? It's one of the only restaurants I've worked in that I can actually eat in. I love it.

I don't know if you remember, but I worked there in Miami. The singing waiter is part of the whole theme of the restaurant. It is supposed to be Italian opera, to go with the Italian theme, but sometimes it was showtunes - or requests. I probably did more singing there than waiting tables, which was fine with me! And yes, the tips were better when the table was serenaded! Non-singing waiters would grab those of us who were singers to take an occasional request for their tables.

I'm glad you got the full experience this time. You should request it from now on. :)
