Every major network has turned down this ad. It's about how the United Church of Christ will not turn people away, and hints that some of the people other churches may turn away would be gay. Apparently CBS turned it down sighting the executive branch's stance on gay marriage.
This is completely ridiculous. If you think you live in a country with religious freedoms you are wrong.
Posted by jherr at December 2, 2004 02:40 PMIronically, most churches will accept whomever comes through their doors--and you can stay as long as you agree with them and/or can accept their teachings/policies. I don't know of any church that would turn away a potential donor, er, member of the church.
And this church, well, is not the most tolerant. In fact, they are the most conservative branch of what is deemed the "Christian Church" branch of religion. You can read my post on Lori's blog for my experience with it.
And as for ads on tv for any church--I don't care what denomination--they don't belong on national networks. My humble opinion.
