Hoodwinked update

Our fearless industry insider clued me into this L.A. Times story on Hoodwinked. Turns out the movie was made for $20M by a couple of Hollywood newbies. Yeah, I had my issues with the movie, but now that I understand it a little better I like it more. I really like the fact that they are considering doing more of these lower budget movies that are a bit edgier for kids. At a mere $20M you can take some risks. And from the kids perspective the movies are awesome. Who cares if the characters have a funky gate. Who cares if the rendering is just a few cuts above video game grade. It's only old geezers like me who nitpick.

Well, it was either that or "cub reporter" and I couldn't see you in a cap with papers yelling "Extree! Extree!"

This kind of movie needs a playbill so that the audience understands how it's made. I came into it with the expectation that it was just another big Hollywood production. And my review was based on that expectation. Now that I understand the source I give the movie higher marks.

It's like podcasting. If I know something was produced in someones garage then I have a tendency to favor it's content over style and quality.
