I'll just contentedly suck the marrow out of a rib bone, thanks.
Posted by: bsaz at April 4, 2006 09:01 AMAh yes, I the closest ex-veg to you have not been supportive - oh wait I have actually- I cook you lots of vegetarian meals, I make sure my meat never touches your food, and i've never expected you to eat anything you don't want - except olives and last time I checked they were vegetarian! I'll guess your not that happy with my jokes about you joining me on the dark side.
Posted by: Lori Herrington at April 4, 2006 10:13 AMIt's not you. It's work. Axon was actually ok, but Certive, Macromedia, and even now I get little barbs at lunch for being a vegetarian.
Posted by: jherr at April 4, 2006 10:16 AMWell as far I know i'm the only ex-vegetarian who reads your blog, maybe not - but it felt fairly aimed
Posted by: Lori Herrington at April 4, 2006 10:27 AMA guy that I work with, who doesn't read my blog, is an ex-vegetarian. And so are some of our mutual friends.
Really, honey, this wasn't aimed at you at all.
Posted by: jherr at April 4, 2006 10:54 AMI'm an ex-veg too. I was vegetarian all through high school. Then I had a slice of roast beef in Naples and it was game over. I didn't even want it . . .
I wouldn't try to pull someone away from it, though. I enjoyed it when I was there. I have tried, like, four times since to quit meat. Can't do it.
Lori, I knew you made a turkey at Thanksgiving, but I didn't know you were back on the meat-eating side full-time!
Posted by: Jacqueline at April 4, 2006 12:21 PMSorry Jacqueline, I forgot that you were a vegetarian too for a couple of years in high school.
Yes I'm a omnivore now - though I still don't eat beef and i've only had a little pork by accident - like pancetta included in something i've ordered in a restaurant. Plus since I cook boneless breast of chicken for the dog on a very regular basis, i've gone ahead and started cooking at home, but I use separate baking dish for my meat, or one side of the grill, all to preserve the vegetarianism for Jack and Megan - we are raising her a vegetarian too though if she ever chooses to eat meat we'll certainly let her - but we want her to decide for herself - kind of like religion :)
