Descent

I saw Descent last night. It's a quality horror flick. There are some solid scares, even for the seasoned viewer. The only problem I had with it was that the characters almost looked identical save the Asian girl. It was tough to tell who was who at some points since they were all skinny blondes.

Of course the theatre came equipped with the moronic kids in the back row who would rather joke loudly through the entire film than actually watch it. When someone yelled at them they yelled right back and just got louder. Why do I go to the movies again? Why do I pay $10 bucks for that type of crappy experience?

Ah, well, the story around here goes that if you sit in the back there are a bevy of teenage girls who will be willing to provide certain, em, favors, for a mere $20.:) That's what happens when you go to a night movie and school is still out...the kids have no place to go and, so, have to ruin the experience for the rest of us.

Interesting... but there was no sex going on here. Not in the movie, and not in the theatre. Sadly. Just a bunch of teenage boys being idiots.

Gotta say though, that was never the deal when I was a teenager.

Jack:
My name is Marc Kurtz. I don't know if you remember me, but I am one of Jay Kurtz's brothers. I know that this isn't the proper forum to contact you, but I am not sure how else to do it. Last week was Jay's "Yarhtzeit" (anniversary of his passing away). My nephew was doing a search on him, and your blog from March 2004, showed up. It was really weird to see him holding the bird in his hand. He really loved the outdoors. Anyway, my sister, Leah (Linda) told us of the site, and we all visited. My dad wanted me to try and get in touch with you and let you know that the article about our brother was very moving. It's hard to believe that he is gone now 8 years. Time goes by too fast. There isn't a month that goes by that his name doesn't come up in our family. Whether it's talking to our kids about their uncle that they didn't get to know, unfortunately. My wife, Chava, and I remember all of Jay's friends from SF. You guys were a special group of people who Jay was lucky to have as friends. It would be nice to hear from you. My e-mail address is the following:
marc_kurtz@merck.com
Thanks for sharing your memories and experiences that you had with Jay.
