You can tell in about 30 seconds that this professor is completely baked. I got a few minues into it and I still don't know what the hell he was actually lecturing about.
Posted by jherr at October 2, 2006 10:59 AMIt is unfortunate that this guy's lecture was not captured in its entirety. If one watches it to its untimely end, one can see that this prof is slowly but surely developing his point. He's an odd duck to be sure but it's clear that he understands where he is going ultimately with this lecture. We learn early on that this is not a history class but a course in business administration. He slowly but surely gets back to the issue of business by speaking about events in history - and then begins to speak about business's place in history. The lecture ends because the class is told to take a 15 min break - and that's all we have recorded. BUT - Pay attention to how he wends his way back and forth, how he keeps making use of the same joke - Napolean in this case. He's using Napolean as a spot in time for the one student who mis-splaced Napolean on history's timeline. This prof is no dummy - he may be baked - but he's got a clue.
His style reminds me of some classics - books - in which ya just gotta stick with it if you wanna get anything out of it. Even this unfinished lecture can leave open questions in the minds of those who are receptive to the message.
