Jesse James

I tried to get through "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". At about the two hour mark I just gave up. I wondered how a movie where the conclusion was in the insanely long title could get to two hours. The director laughed in my face and gave me three interminably long hours.

Let me say that the movie is of astoundingly good production quality. The cinematography and lighting are absolutely brilliant. The action is gritty and realistic. And the acting is downright superb. The use of silence is amazing. But the plot and the story are just all at once to confusing and too boring.

I suppose I should have sat through the entire thing, but after a while I just drifted off and that's not my fault. It's just not an engaging movie. What it needs is an editor with a really sharp pair of kitchen sheers.
