Americans in tent cities

I saw this incredibly disturbing report on the BBC world news this evening. Don't even get me started about why I had to learn about this from the BBC.

This is a tent city outside of Los Angeles populated by people who lost their homes in the mortgage crisis:

It's like something out of the great depression. I'm beyond angry about this. This should never ever happen.

Hell yes I'm going to blame this on Bush. Your damn right I am. Did we have tent cities seven years ago when Clinton was in office? I don't think so. Why? Because we had government oversight of industries, like the mortgage industry. Bush gets into office, tears down the oversight, and look what results, predatory loans, financial meltdown, people in tent cities cooking chicken (?) on an open fire pit like this is some third world shanty town.

To those conservatives who say that Katrina just "exposed the welfare state", what do you say to this? What is your excuse this time?

You should definitely watch this report. If this doesn't piss you off nothing will.

Seven years of Bush and where are we? Gas prices at an all time high. Americans living in tent cities because they have been rendered homeless. Seven trillion dollar national debt. The dollar at an all time low. We are in quagmire war that's costing us three trillion dollars. The economy is falling into recession. And states are having to cut billions from their budgets, hamstringing education funding, while we pump endless money into Iraq.

This is madness.
