Here is another gem from the man McCain courted for a year in order to get his endorsement:
Let me put a little biblical context on this:
"If you refuse to listen to the cry of the poor, your own cry will not be heard" (Proverbs 21:13)
"Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Defend the rights of the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8-9)
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" (Matthew 25:34)
In fact the whole Matthew 25 section is a wonderful parable an how to treat the poor and needy. I'm pretty sure it doesn't sum up to; "Get off your blessed assurances or starve!"
