Preemptive immunity

Ugh, I thought I had gained just an iota of respect for Bush because he didn't pardon his cronies before he left office. Whoops. Turns out he did. He preemptively immunized his top aids. Of course that includes Rove and the rest of the goon squad.

Man, this is disgusting. Is there any depth to which Bush and the conservatives will not sink?

Wiretapping, torture, ok for Obama?

I have a question for my conservative friends; now that Obama is in charge are you still ok with warrantless wiretapping and torture? We now know that Bush wiretapped literally everyone in the United States. We also know that he relished in the use of torture. Conservatives defended him to the hilt on both of those. But would that apply to Obama as well? Do you feel as comfortable with Obama's NSA wiretapping your phone? Do you think it's just as important for Obama to be able to torture people at his whim?

Right flip/flops in one minute

For a while there in 2004 your Karl Rove types thought that they would have a permanent Republican majority. And they acted like it. They would call anyone who dared to disagree with the Commander In Chief a traitor. Of course, anyone who knows anything understands political cycles and that there is no such thing as a permanent anything in American politics. I for one, wanted to see what conservatives would say once power did shift. Once Democrats got control back. Would they hold their tongue when it came to the new Commander In Chief?

Of course not. Chris Wallace of Fox News question the legitimacy of Barack Obama's Presidency not but one minute after the oath. It was truly stunning. I figured they would give Barack a grace period. Hah! No way. Right out of the gate conservatives are saying the kind of things about Barack that would have given Democrats pause before they said it about Bush.

I think what this has taught me is that conservatives believe the only true Americans are conservatives. And it doesn't matter what they do or say. If you are a conservative then you are a patriot, if you aren't then, you are a traitor. Plain and simple.

BSG idea

The last few episodes of BSG have sucked... hard. Here is my idea for the next few episodes. We get Dial soap to preempt them, like this:

This episode of BSG has been preempted by Dial. What you would have seen is more scenes of Laura Roslyn running. Adama turns into drunk Ty. Ty turns into the new Adama. Lee just stands there looking stupid. Starbuck sulk some more. Gaida and whats-his-face from the first show do more dumb stuff. And it's all really depressing. So instead, we would like to show you an encore episode from season one that sucked very much less and will pleasantly remind you of why you thought this was the best TV on TV a while back. But not recently. Because recently it has sucked. Which is why we are preempting it... Anyway... WIthout further delay... A non-sucking old BSG episode.

How about that idea? Sound good to you? I know we can pitch this!

So here is a pleasing thought. Next week on Friday when we could be watching more BSG suckfest here at home, we will be in Tahoe. Sweet!

It was funny last night, we watched BSG and then had the new episode of Lost waiting. And neither Lori nor I wanted to watch it. It was like, too much mind-fuck. Whatever happened to reasonable shows with reasonable people doing nutty stuff, but not total batshit crazy insane stuff that we aren't ever supposed to understand.

Winguts and the blown oath

The right wingers are all up in arms that the oath was flubbed and therefor Obama is not the President. Here is an example from Chris Wallace of, where else, Fox News:

My left wing friends are hand-wringing, fearing that somehow the once all-powerful right will find some legal loophole and undo the entire election.

There are two key numbers here: 84% and 27%. 84% is Barack's approval rating, 27% is W's. If the right wing tries a coup they will end up with their own heads on pikes. Nothing is going to boot Barack from the White House. Fear not. We, the non-conservatives, the non-neocons, control the government now, lock, stock and barrel (with the exception of the Judiciary).

Conservatives can bitch all they want from their Mom's basement. Aint gonna do shit. They will be out of power for at the very least two year, more likely six.

Amazing speech

While Barack's acceptance speech was truly amazing, I think the best part of the mornings festivities were when the commentator said that he was going to work after leaving the podium. Damn straight! We need to roll back a bunch of Bush's insane policies and get some money flowing out to homeowners and small business owners who need it. And we need to start that stuff right frak'ing now.

I'm really not that much on all of this pomp and circumstance. In my mind the President works for me. We hire him to manage the government. He should work hard and effectively given the time he has. And that's not really about balls and parades and what not. Especially now, we need a strong hand at the wheel. We have had eight years of a man who never took the job that seriously. And we can see where that got us.

The End of BSG

My prediction about the end of Battlestar Galactica is this, it will end with a shot-by-shot redux of how the miniseries began. A bored human will sit at a table on a remote outpost, a beautiful Cylon will enter, say something cryptic, and the station will be destroyed.

Moore's point all along has been that this whole thing is cyclic. That the original series is valid because the new series takes place afterwards. The original Adama from the 70s show existed and the current Adama is a descendent, etc. etc.

A treat would be to see the next generation of battlestars/vipers/cylons/etc. But that might too much for the effects budget. ;-)

Anywho, that's my prediction. Let's see if I'm right.

Shut up! Shut up! Shut uuuuupp!

Bush, please God, shut up! Shut up!

Just leave already. My lord. Haven't you done enough damage. Must you continue to flap your gums at us.

Just go. Pardon your cronies for torture, wiretapping, starting an illegal war and defrauding us of billions and go.

On that pardon thing. If Bush actually didn't pardon his cronies that I would actually applaud him for. It would be one fleeting moment of correct action from a man who is in all other ways a worthless sack of shit.

Seriously though, Bush. Thank your lucky fucking stars you aren't run out of town on a damn rail. Just shut up and leave already. Jackass.

BSG prop auction

A lady I work with is going to the BSG prop auction. The catalog for it is incredible. Unfortunately I didn't see anything in the super cheap range.

Are you a pinko?

Or a 'lib'? Are you 'disloyal', 'treacherous' or 'not on the team'? Or are you a 'right thinking American'. Turns out all of that would get in the way of a department of Justice job in the Bush administration.

I'm not personally surprised by this at all. I mention it here only because lots of people seem to have blinders on when it comes to the rampant insanity and corruption in the Bush administration.

Also, if you need to know what a 'right thinking American' is, just have a listen to Hannity, he and his callers use that term and similar ones (e.g. 'you are a great American') every hour of every day.

Edward R. Moron

The batshit crazies on the extreme right wing have fit to turn their poster boy, Joe The Plumber, into a reluctant war corespondent.

Go back to the twenties for war reporting, what? Wait, I thought the right wingers were all about bringing back the lilly-white 50s. Now they want to go back the 20s? What next? The right wing Christian Taliban will want us going back to horses and buggies?

He doesn't even think there should be war reporting... er... but... he is a war journo.... brain starting to hurt. This man is so incalculably stupid. Which of course means that the right wingers love him and will shower him with money until he has his own inept spastic show on Fox Noise.

This is the best the right wing has to offer? Wow. This is tragic.

Industrial Decay

One of the really cool things about working at Ning is that we get to see a lot of very cool networks. Here is one on industrial decay that has some just incredible picture. I'm not sure why I'm so fond of looking at pictures of dead factories, malls and housing developments. There is just something about the stoic silence of it all.

Economy - it's workers fault

The geniuses at the Chiago school of economics think the problem with the economy is that the American worker just woke up six months ago deciding not to work. So it's all our fault.

It couldn't possibly have anything to do with bush's extreme course of de-regulation. If you think of business as a game and that bush removed all of the refs from the field, how could you expect anything other than what we got.

Next time the republicans are in charge I'll have to remember the bush years and loot my way into riches. Hell, if everyone else gets to do it and not go to jail, why not me? I mean, seriously. Bush and his cronies looted the country and talk radio has convinced us that they shouldn't be prosecuted for "the good of the country". What a load of horseshit.
