NEAT IDEA

http://www.railtrails.org Turning old railways that aren't used anymore into trails for bikers, walkers, etc. Looks good and is a great idea - apparently 1 cent of every dollar spent on roads and expressways is going to this concept.

Behind the back fence of our house in Alamo was an old railbed that, once they quit the rail, they intended to use for the BART. When that fell through, they tore it all up, blacktopped part of it and made it a hike and bike trail. It ran the length of the south side of Walnut Creek to Alamo and Danville and just into San Ramon. It was a great way to travel when I was too young to drive and provided endless hours of entertainment for our dogs!:)
