This ad from the United Church of Christ gave me chills. Jesus taught tolerance and acceptance. If I were to ever go back to a church, one that was open minded would be more to my taste. I always thought that would be the Unitarian Church, but now I see there are other open and loving groups out there. |
You forgot the link
Posted by: WCutherell at December 2, 2004 03:50 PMnope .. had the link forgot a /
Posted by: Lori Herrington at December 2, 2004 03:51 PMI haven't gone to the link yet, but wanted to share my experience with this church.
My brother Danny was married to a woman from this church--not his needless to say. While she laying dying from cancer in her bedroom, her family spoke loudly that she was being cursed for marrying a man of another faith. To loosely quote, "If she had followed what we taught her and not married you, she never would have developed cancer."
Oh, so nice. Now to watch the link.
Posted by: eigga49 at December 2, 2004 08:01 PMThank you ... you always know there are 2 sides to an issue or a group. I know nothing of this church except what I saw on the ad. I feel humbled by your brother's experience.
I was a little nervous to watch it, too when you said it gave you chills. I didn't know if they were good or bad chills. I was afraid that it was going to be from the Church of Christ, a group who is known for being fundamentalist and not at all tolerant. But your link goes to the UNITED church of Christ. Wow - that one word changes everything! Nice.
Posted by: Jacqueline at December 3, 2004 10:53 AMHindsight being 20/20 I think the chills I felt had more to do with the cold I was coming down with and less to do with the ad.
