Down in the dumps
so Jack and I are trying to improve his asthma and allergy symptoms because they are the worst ever in recorded history (except Japan, I think they were worse then) Anyway tonight I bought a new cotton filled comforter and we packaged up our down duvet and my down pillows. Down was always so luxerious to me and I'm going to really miss sleeping on air. I'll adjust as I did Sleeping for 2 weeks on the squeeky Lincoln Rope bed in Florida, and If Jack feels better than its totally worth it.

How Amazing
Finally watched the Amazing Race ending. IT really is the most intelligent of the so called "Reality Shows." I was thrilled that the gay couple the so called "chip and Dale" by the other contestants won. They really were united more so than any other couple on there. The groups of Friends for the most part played the game with out taking mean swipes at each other, but for couples who have made life long commitments to each other it was these two gay men who were kind and loving through out every trial on the show. They really did an excellent job of showing that same sex relationships can be just as loving and dedicated as those of opposite sexes, even more so sometimes. I still wish the circus clowns had won - they were the best, or the two old fat guys, the total underdogs. But if my first two choices had to loose then Chip and Dale were the next best winners.

swimming trama
Megan decided to reach over her float and grab a toy and fell out and into the water. She's fine- didn't even cough after just cried cause she scared the (*&%^$ out of herself, me and a pool full of moms.
We did finish up the disposable waterproof camera so I'll get those developed and then we'll see if it was worth it.

a slightly quieter day
Megan is napping right now. We're heading to a farm to see cows and such and have a picnic with a new friend and her daughter Zoe. I'm sure i"ll have some pictures for the site if I remember to bring the camera. We don't have much else planned until Jack gets home and we have to go pick up his car.

busy day
Megan and I have been so busy today. We left early to meet Pam and Josephine at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo, we had a early lunch at Maccaroni Grill and then went to Organized Living - the best store for all that neat organization stuff that you wonder where to buy.
We then headed back across the bay (while Megan napped) to Gymboree where she got very annoyed with me for moving her from activity to activity - she just wanted to stick with one and keep doing it over and over again. She's enjoying standing up and can crawler/wggle to get to a destitnation.
Now were home for another nap, and then we will meet Jack at the car mechanic where we are dropping off his car for 10,000 mile check up and then have dinner out.

MYSTERY SOLVED!
I called the Wall street Journal. Turns out when Red Herring ceased publication we ended up not only getting a year of Buisness 2.0 but also a month of WSJ. Red Herring was one of those magazines we tried out with a bunch of frequent flyer points that were about to expire.

I had the realization today that I'm healthy. After nine months of morning sickness and who knows how long sick with gall stones, I think I just continued to act like I was sick - taking it easy on myself. I'm feeling better than I have in years. I have energy to do what ever I set my mind to. This week I've cleaned out the pantry, rearranged Megan's room, rearranged the dining room, took Megan swimming, gymboree, playgroup and the mall, went on daily walks including a 2 mile walk today to a new playground that Megan loved, and tonight while Jack bathed Megan I washed my car. I'm really loving this! Mind you I still have some aches and pains but I think that is from being so out of shape, I'm sure that will approve in time.

Its official - I was crazy
I not only saw the truck on our street this morning during our walk but the guy came out of his house and went to his truck and started it up and drove away. Yesturday as I was putting the charger on my cell phone in dawned on me what sort of wires he was probably messing with on the dash.

What the blog?
During the day I have a recurring notion that something that is happening would make a great blog, more interesting than my usual play by play, and then I get home or get to a place where I can get my lap top open, maybe even open the blog editor and then blank - my mind goes absolutely blank. This happened to me at least 3 times today and I can't for the life of me remember what I wanted to blog about. I'm sure it was great what ever it was... you'll just have to take my word for it ;)

excitement for the morning...
Megan and I were out for our morning walk when I heard a car have trouble starting - it turned out to be a pick up truck and by the time I reached it, it had started. I looked in to see the driver and noticed the small man was messing with wires under the dash. a few steps later I realized he was stealing the truck - I thought!. As it passed me I tried to get the license tag and I called the police. After giving all the details I'd gathered to the dispatcher, Megan and I proceeded around the park and we were on our way back when 3 police cars came driving up. I spoke briefly with an officer who then went to knock on doors to see if the truck belong to anyone and if it had in fact been stolen. He said they would stop by the house if they needed more from me. That was about an hour ago and since they haven't returned I'm guessing the car wasn't stolen and I made a mountain out of a mole hill - I'll let you all know if anything changes.

The Sadie Puzzle continues...
So We've been monitering the girls eating to try and figure out why Ripley's not really loosing weight (despite the mega low calorie food the vet has her on). On Saturday while cooking dinner I noticed that Sadie leaves about 1/4 to 1/8 of her meal and refuses to go back to her bowl til its gone. We made Ripley go in with Jack and I still couldn't get Sadie to eat it. Once I dumped it out though she happily licked her bowl clean. Next night Jack noticed the same thing ( I was at a movies.) and Sadie left Ripley an offering.... So now we have to make sure Ripley never gets these offerings. I'm going to try and feed Sadie alittle less tonight and see if she still leaves some or forgets and just eats t all. I'm sure either Jack or myself will keep you posted.

FUN Picnic & SWAT
Today's adventures included an afternoon picnic with the mother's club that I belong too - we were an hour late because Megan had been napping so there was no more veggie burgers for us, - go figure. But it was alot of fun seeing some of the moms kids and dads from playgroup and the club.
Onces Megan went down for her afternoon nap, I headed over to the megaplex and saw SWAT which was a fun movie, but it really was missing something. I was entertained and enjoyed the first movie in months that didn't have annoying people talking all the way through it. The stupid anti vegetarian scene was not appreciated by this veg head.

too many fruits and veggies
I just cancelled our fresh veggie deliver, which I loved getting. We just weren't eating enough of what came. It was great produce though so I might start it up again in the winter. I'm alittle bummed about it, but I think its for the best.

Passionada
I think that is the proper spelling for the movie I saw today. It wasn't bad, pretty good actually, but I think its being pushed as the next "Big Fat Greek Wedding" and well it wasn't that good.
Just found an Australian movie where Russell Crow plays a gay man, older movie before Gladiator for sure. Too funny. He does a pretty believable job.

Gigli
As Jack mentioned in his log, I did go and see this bomb last night, and really with everyone saying it was terrible, it really wasn't that bad, but then when you expect the worst, its amazing how things don't seem that bad.
I don't recommend it, I didn't buy the story line and well, it was a fun night out with a friend, and while it was better than show girls - it was still a bad movie.

American Wedding
This third installation of the American Pie movies was my movie choice yesterday. I laughed so hard before the opening credits, that I felt I'd gotten my money's worth - it was the best marrage proposal scene I'd ever seen.
I recommend it if you need a laugh and don't mind toilet humor. Don't be late, the funnies scene is definately the first one.

New day, new possibilities
After a fairly uneventful stay at the hotel, Megan and are ready to try again - well sort of -she still sleeping and i'm not going to rush her til I need to - the longer she sleeps in the better for the time change.
I did realize last night that I only brought 8 diapers which should be enough if I don't let Megan have any more TCBY! I put the extra ones in the box that dad is sending us, stuff I didn't want to personally lug across country and am more than happy to let UPS do for me. So everyone wish us luck and good thoughts as we attempt to get home today.
BTW for anyone traveling with a small child through Florida bear in mind that Tampa secerity brings you to the front of the line if you have a stroller. - big time saver! Its because the switch backs are tight I think or some one here actually realized that making a nine month old stand in line for an hour is not a good idea for all involved.

Still in florida
Long story short - cause I'm running on empty in the energy department, after a long afternoon hanging out at the airport after a lunch with Dad at the airport TGIF before he headed back to Ocala, we boarded our plane, I got the car seat off my back and into the seat, Megan strapped in and the whole plane went for a shake. After everyone was on, the captain came on and announced the plane's left engine was damaged by a services truck with a hydrolic lift. (they ran into it) so off we went and now I'm writing this at the Airport Marriot, and i"m going to go collapse very soon.
We leave tomorrow through Newark instead of houston - adding an extra 3-4 hours ontop of the extra night

back to CA
Megan and I are heading home today. We've had a great time here in Florida, and we'll miss grandpa and grandpa's pool. We'll miss the puppies that are smaller than Megan. but we won't miss the heat and humidity.
We'll also be glad to be getting home to Ripley Sadie and Jack. There is no place like home.

alot to pack
Megan and I have managed to really spread out and move in. Now I've got to figure out where all our stuff is and get it put in either the suitcase or the box.
I'm looking forward to heading home, though I'm going to miss dad. I miss my bed and being able to roll over with out the creaks of the old rope bed. I will miss swimming everyday, but plan on inviting myself to join my friends Kari and Derrek at their pool.
Good book recommendation - Following Foo by BD Fong. Be prepared to cry.

crying for Wilson
I watched Cast Away with Dad tonight and once again for the 4th time, I cried when he lost Wilson and continued until the end. It was a really good film and Tom Hanks is an amazing actor.

Everyone gone...
We all managed to go out to breakfast this morning by 8:30 and then Mike and Missy and Justin headed straight to the high way from the resterant. The rest of the gang back to the house so they could finish packing up.
Then David, Jordan and Kelly went off in one car and Robin and Sam went off in the other, Megan went down for a nap and dad and I kicked back and relaxed in the quiet. (we are both surfing on our ibooks)
I'm planning on heading out to the Market of Marion when Megan wakes up, though it may be too hot for an outdoor market, and i haven't done my Bealls shoe shopping yet this trip :)

Sleep Glorious Sleep
Once again insomnia stricks. I'm typing this at 6:25 am after finally falling asleep around 12:30 and waking up periodically through the night. Part of the trouble this am is that I'm starving - that pain in your head kind of starving, the glass of water came to bed with just isn't cutting it. (Megan's was starting to stir , must be typing loudly - so now picture me siting in the sqeeky old rope bed with laptop in lap on pillow and blanket pulled over both of us!)
I think we are off to silver springs today Glass bottom boats and lots of animals. After everyone leaves tomorrow I'm going to take Megan to the Market of Marion for some grade A people watching (big flea market).

Origin of "Hell"
I've been having discussions - so to speak with Sam and Robin about Hell because Sam was wear a shirt that said "Real Fear" on the front and then quoted a bible verse - Luke 16:23 "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments," on the back.
I first thought that there had been a typo but I realize now this is just King James. The first version of this I found was not King James and they refered to hell as Hades which is from mythology and not really hell as in the christian since of hell. Robin said hades and hell were the same which made me think about the origins of hell.
I remember from bible as lit class in college that the concept of the devil and hell were added to the bible late in the game but not remember the exact story behind it I looked it up and found the following online:
"The Origin of Hell as a Place of Punishment
By Robert M. Price
The earliest records of ancient religions in Israel, Babylon (now Iraq), and Greece all refer to a place where the souls or "shades" of people who have died go to stay. This was often depicted as somewhere deep underground. But the idea that this land of the dead was reserved to punish wrongdoers didn't arise until some time in the first millennium BC, in tandem with the belief that this subterranean world housed an infernal (lower, inferior) god. Initially, this underground world was sometimes a place where greater gods banished lesser gods. The anti-god Ahriman, for example, of the ancient Persian religion of Zoroastrianism (7th-6th century BC), took up residence beneath the Earth in the House of the Lie, amid every sort of filth and stench, after being defeated by the supreme god, Ahura Mazda. Ancient Israelite religions depicted Belial, a demon god, as Lord of the Abyss, an undersea pit. Likewise, Moloch, a god to whom child sacrifices were made throughout the ancient Middle East, was Lord of a subterranean kingdom of flaming lava. Eventually most of these devil-realms were combined with Sheol (the "Grave"), making this Near East concept of a depository of ghosts a place of torment. The Old Testament describes Sheol as a dark and dusty city with high, impregnable walls and barred gates--a place of no return for both good and bad souls. Not until the 6th century AD did Catholic Christianity modify the Sheol concept, articulating a vision of Hell (an Old English word meaning "covered place") that has endured to modern times: a place where the sinful are sent to burn in eternal fire. The Bible lacks any explicit statement about Satan ruling Hell, however. It was other early Christian writings that assigned him the role of Hell's warden. "
A lot of the stories of the bible are from mythology that preceded the writing and formation of the bible. These stories had been taken from the common man's mythology in order to bring them into the Christian faith. Its like Christmas - Christian placement of christ's birth at the winter solstice was to incorporate the pagan celebrations of the winter solstice - the tree, and yule log etc are all originally from pagan traditions, but that alas is another blog...
