I reserve the right to change my mind before Sunday :)
I watched Pieces of April last night and enjoyed it immensely. So now for the first time ever I've watched all the movies nominated in most of the categories. I'm lacking a on the documentary front and also on the short films. Should be an interesting show. I'm planning on making my choices in the next couple of days and posting them online.
Cheerio
Maybe I'm just hormonal or something but I really liked "50 First Dates", I laughed I cried, I had a really good night. It was a refreshing departure from the Oscar nominated depressing flicks I've been watching of late.
I saw 21 grams last weekend and House of Sand and Fog today and both were well acting incredibly depressing films. While I think the actors did a great job I'm going to hope Johnny Depp wins for best actor for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean, he was awesome and it made me laugh which is so rare these days for Oscar nominated flicks.
We're having a quiet day, thanks in part to the cold Megan got last week and I"m now in the throws of and Jack is starting. Jack surprised me with a beautiful bonsai, and a lovely card that is covered with Pictures of Megan and Sadie and Ripley. I gave Jack some warm soft PJ's and Megan drew him a card and put some stickers on it. They had a morning running around Stanford Mall, while I chilled on the sofa and emptied the TIVO so there was room for more Bear and the big blue house.
Happy Valentines day to all
Megan got some shots a few weeks ago. Over the weekend, the spot where the shot went in had a small red bump. Then yesterday t was about the size of a pea, today it was triple that size so I called Megan's dr and spoke with the nurse on staff. She said wow - she's having a reaction, bring her in...so I rushed her in. We were taken into a room right away. Her doctor wasn't in today so another dr came in and he really didn't get why we were there. He noticed she had a cold so assumed I'd brought her in for that. I finally got him to understand we were there for the bump on the leg and he looked at it and said - ah bug bite. NO I said and explained that that was the point of her injection and light bulb. He still wasn't concerned, took his pen and drew a line around it and said if it gets bigger bring her back.
I'm just hoping her regular doc is in if it does get bigger.
here are pics of the 8+ year used heater filter and a new one.

Something is loose and rattling. All night I heard it, guess I have to go back in today and figure out what I bumped or moved. On the plus side, Jack said he really breathed better last night.
Saturday dawned to early for my taste. I'm such a night owl and Megan is morning girl. So she of course one and I stumbled out of bed. Jack had to go to work today, so Megan and I braved Saturday Gymboree which we will never do again. There were 18 kids there and most seemed to have both parents with them. When it came time for parachute time there was no room for us and we had to squeeze in between 2 non english speaking moms. Megan had fun but she was so scared of the large group of kids she was clingier than ever before.
We headed home and I got it in my head to find the filter for our heater. Thats right I had to find the filter. We have lived in the house 8 years and we have never even thought to change it. Jack's allergies have been really bad lately and even I had been feeling congested but the cold never seemed to come. So I've been racking my brain trying to think of what could possible be the cause. I saw on the DIY network a how to maintain your furnace and BINGO light bulb went off. I took off the cover of the in-take and was amazed, but not shocked at the 2 inches of dust and dog hair that blanketed the tunnel. I pulled down the filter and realized that it was packed with crude. I quickly bagged it and then Megan and I went to the hardware store to buy a replacement.
The replacement was the easiest part. The guy cut me one to size in a bright blue and laughed because our old one used to be blue but was black. We got home and I vacuumed the intake area, put in the new filter, put back on the cover and started it all up again.
So now we shall see if allergies improve. I'm thinking its time for a new heater since we currently have the original one and our house was built in 1975.
Megan and I enjoyed the zoo this morning. We joined the OAKLAND ZOO so now we can go as many times as we want for the next year. Better still we get to get into lots of other zoo's and aquariums discounted or for free.
Megan enjoyed the flamingos, camels, lions, zebras, monkeys. We enjoyed lunch in the cafe which was by far the best zoo food I've ever had. We finished up the day with a ride on the train and the carrousel twice.
Jack makes it looks so easy. Posting pictures keeping the world updated on Megan... but it must be alot more complicated cause my brother hasn't shared but one picture of his new daughter! More Pictures Please.
Update: OK My brother is given a reprieve. Little Elizabeth had to spend an extra day in the hospital, so I'm giving him a break and guessing he'll have new pictures up this weekend.
Elizabeth Michele Cutherell... Megan's latest Cousin.

This weekend I saw one of the Oscar contenders from my list "In America". It was an excellent film. Djimon Hounsou is nominated for supporting actor and Samantha Morton is nominated for lead actress. It is also nominated for WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY). I don't think it stands a chance in any of the 3 categories. Tim Robbins was outstanding in Mystic River for supporting actor. Charlize Theron has my vote for her role in Monster, and I'm betting on Lost in Translation to win for writing. I still have quiet a few to see but the timing is hard. Today I wanted to be back in time for the super-bowl commercials so I went to Win a date with Tad Hamilton which was in no way worth it.
