No mishaps or sagas to report. Our trip was uneventful. No line in security, no alarms to set off. Megan loved running round our gate and waving to all the people walking by. She had no trouble getting in her car seat and sitting there for 4 hours. Her feet rested on the seat in front of her, because the car seat put her there, and she did push the poor woman all the way here. Our one trip to the restroom, meant she got a chance to look at all the people on the plane, play with the flight attendants, and then wave and smile at all the people again, so much so that we past our seat and kept going all the way to the front of coach, turned around and did it all again. She enjoyed the exercises so much that she went to her own seat with no trauma, and settled in for some goldfish and Elmo.
Megan and I are off for a week in Houston with my brother Doodlebug, his better half Missy and their two cuties Justin and Elise, my dad and Missy's folks Elton and Pat. Dreading airport security with a running 18 month old, but seeing family will make it worth while. Lots to do (still packing and watching tv to clear out the TIVO for a week's worth of recording.)
not that I need convincing....

I saw Dogville this afternoon. While I wasn't prepared for the 3 hour commitment, I have to say it was a really good film. Disturbing and an interesting window on how other parts of the world may view us, it is also a a mirror for which we can view human nature.
Nicole Kidman does an incredible job as a woman on the run, taken in by a town in the American Rockies "Dogville" . Like a version of "Our Town", the story scenes take place on a single set, with imaginary walls, and doors, and painted text directing us around the town. The cast is impressive, with Hollywood legends Lauren Bacall, and James Caan. and a cast that includes Blair Brown, John Hurt and Patricia Clarkson.
I recommend everyone see it. You'll Cringe and laugh and in the end feel more aware for having seen it.
My big brother David has set up a website for himself and his family. It's a great beginning Dave - looking good. (Might want to try and figure out how to shrink down the size of the pictures though so that people with dial- up don't suffer too much :)
I read "Glorious Appearing" this week while Jack was in Chicago. It was so bad I'm not even going to link it to its Amazon page.
I started the Left behind series while in Japan a few years back on the recommendation of Jack's sister Jenny and her husband Thom. As a work of fiction I was pleasantly surprised at how well it read and how entertained I was. As the series continued I got more annoyed with the repetition and the preaching (which went on for pages and pages at some point). THe final book was atrocious. Completely unbelievable, poorly written, badly edited and just plain dull.
The writing pair are obviously more interested in a quick buck than coming up with a decent follow up for their first surprising hit. Each successive book was worse than the one before it. I promised to send my copy to my sister so I am passing this one on (otherwise I might add it to the firewood pile). I hope she never gives it back and I hope everyone else avoid this monstrosity. If you read the first book left behind - stop there and don't bother going on. If you want a good book try Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code (also a recommendation from Jen and Thom)
Guess I need to blog :) ....
Megan and I have been busy making up for our sick week last week. We enjoyed our gym class, and today our playgroup had an easter egg hunt on the farm.
We started out the first part of the week with Megan sick. You can't guess that by the beautiful pictures Jack's been sharing, but she was a very sick little girl. Yesterday however she was on the mend and we managed a few errands and I had a girls night out. Come home and I start feeling shaking and boom this morning it hits me. Jack came home at 2 and took over the entertainment of Megan while I went to bed.
Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow, since honestly my symptoms aren't nearly as severe as Megan's were. But we missed Megan's Gym yesterday and we are skipping playgoup tomorrow so all in all its been a bland week.
