Megan wanted her toes painted tonight. Its another thing I didn't realize I'd be as a mom - Beautician :) I'm not the best at hair but i'm getting better - my pigtails are even sometimes even and equal. To keep her still while I painted and they dried I put on "Jo Jo's Circus."
I asked Megan if she liked Jo Jo and she said yes. I asked her if she wanted to watch it before naps instead of Max & Ruby and she said "No"... why I asked...
Well it turns out Max & Ruby a comic about a brother and sister Rabbit always has 3 stories. Jo Jo only comes in 2's. ...!
So Megan feels like she's getting more out of Max &Ruby even though they are both 30 minutes.
Catapiller who never even got a name has died. I figured he probably would have been dead sooner had we left him on the floor of the store, but its sad that we couldn't give him a chance to transform. Megan took the news well, and we took him outside and "buried" him under a bush.
She then looked at me and said ....
"Can I play my video game now?"
While shopping today, Megan looked down and found a caterpillar. We took it outside and put it in a bush and went back in the store. The rest of the time we were in the store I got 20 questions about the caterpillar like where was it, and would it turn into a butterfly, etc. So when we left we went over and found it again. Megan asked if we could take it home, and for a moment I thought - heck no but then I figured why not - It'll probably turn into a Moth but either way it'll be a great learning experience. I still had the handy plastic container the fish came in with an air hole in the top that had a raised edge and its clear so Megan can watch it. We ran around the yard when we got home picking lots of plant leaves and we'll see what it likes to eat. ...I'll keep you posted, and will I'm sure take lots of pictures.
I took Megan to her first play today. A local children's theater was doing "Disney's Aladdin, Jr." I'll admit my ignorance here - I always though children's theater meant theater for children. What I didn't realize was it meant children (Teens really) acting.
The performance was wonderful. Very well done - very professional. Megan was absolutely enthralled and told me at intermission that she was going to be an actor when she grew up. At the end as we exited in a throng, she looked up at me with very sad eyes and said "no I don't want to go, I want to see it again!"
Any of my theater friends out there know the story of "Thoroughly Modern Millie?" Its their next production and I know Megan definitely wants to go again - is it appropriate for a 3 year old?
Not the best pics - but you can see how they went all out for a kids show, and Megan mesmerized :)
Picked out by Megan herself.... she has already had 2 names (Josephine and Tiny Ten) But mostly Megan calls her "My Fish"
The amazing thing is these picks were taken with my new Camera phone :)
Megan and I are still out of it. It has been nice to get outside and bake a little. Today we soaked in the spa while getting some sun. Its so warm and nice that its too bad we can't really go anywhere but I feel so drained that i'm not even going to make it to my tuesday night out with mom friends.
we've just been watching movies and playing with the v-tech. Yesterday afternoon we even went for a walk since the weather is just so wonderful finally. We'll do the same today after nap time. Megan's down now and i'm very soon to follow.
i'm coming down with another cold. this time Megan is sick with me too. lots of rest and cartoons for us this spring break. at least the rain is supposed to take a break and we can go out back and try to bake the colds out of us. - as much as you can bake in 60 degree weather.
Megan and I joined playgroup today for an open play time at a local gymnastics place. We had a blast and will definitely do it again. One of the highlights was this big pit of foam cubes each about a foot long. The pit is probably 6 or 7 feet deep with no stairs or steps like a pool. I sat with my feet dangling in when my sock got eaten by some of the foam. So not thinking I went in after it. And well ... I got stuck. It took me what seemed like an hour but was probably just a couple of minutes to build a step high enough to give me a good leg up. Each time I tried I would smooch the the cubes and sink further in..I never felt the bottom. I did get out, but not before another mom got a picture... I'll post it if she emails it to me :)
This past tuesday night I went out with a couple of mom friends of mine. We did dinner and then headed over to the local mega-plex to see a film. We'd planned on seeing friends with money but for what ever reason it didn't actually open at our local theater. Rather than battle the rain to drive across the bay we went to see Lucky number sleven instead. Now my friend Kari doesn't care for dramas or violence so I was surprised she agreed to see this particular film. She's the reason I usually see every comedy that comes out. Anyway she was all for it until we approached to buy our tickets. I was first in line so while I was getting my ticket she asked the gril from behind me if "Sleven" was a comedy or not. I looked at the girl with big eyes and mouthed "Please tell her YES" well the girl did one better and was so convincing that Kari's fears were laid to rest until the opening credits when 3 people are murdered and very violently too.
She watched the whole movie and in the end enjoyed it, but when I told her at the end that the reason the girl lied was I begged her too - I think she wanted to kill me.
Oso steals toys. When ever we leave the house he goes into Megan's room and gets himself what ever stuffed animal he likes. Its usually one she's been playing with recently. I wish I could be a fly on the wall and watch him decide. Then he takes it out and sleeps with it. Very cute and silly.
He has never to my knowledge chewed them, or done anything but move them around the house and use them as pillows. Some times there are several in a pile in the kitchen - as if to say "see, i'm very good... but.... leave me again and the teddy gets it."
I went to see Anna Nalick in concert on Sunday night with Jeanetta our Baby sitter. The concert was really wonderful. Her music was something I liked and occasionally listened too but now after her great performance and stage presence I'm a true fan. I would gladly see her again. One of the better concerts in my life time. The venue was smallish and intimate. It reminded me of my college groupie days and made me feel a tad old.
I blogged about this concert the night after, and I went on and on describing it and how much it all meant - when damn if I didn't close the window and loose all my work - the result is a much shorter entry just telling you basically that I went. ah - such is life.
the sun is shining finally, though another storm is on its way. The lawn man went ahead and mowed the back yard yesterday despite the standing water. He assured me it was ok and that he'd rather mow it now then wait for it grow even taller and try in 2 weeks. So Megan and I can play out back after school, because the grass is shorter, and hopefully the sun will dry us out a bit, but that is what rubber boots are for.
I read last night that our pool opens next week - which surprises the heck out of me cause we haven't made it out of the 60's yet. Actually on the rainy days which has been ever day for the last week we've been in the 50's. Can't imagine anyone actually going to the pool.
Six months of Trying, six months of 2 trips a month to my gyn, six months of messing with my hormones, and nothing to show for it. We're taking a much needed breather - letting my body settle back into normalcy. - then we'll see. We've got alot of company coming through summer and it would be nice not to be thinking about my uterus for that. So until further notice we're taking a much needed break.
Jack discovered a few months ago that Oso loves to swim. He has since taken Oso on a few adventures to allow him the chance to participate in this new activity.
On Sunday, after deciding he needed a bath anyway, we took Oso over to Foster City where there is a little beach on the bay. We'd gone once before with Sadie and she loved swimming too, but with Oso its almost art.
Anyway 3 movies of Oso for your viewing enjoyment - the only negative was that it was low tide, so it was more mud than water. Next time we'll shoot for high tide.
UPDATE: I fixed the link - so it should work now :)
First i got addicted Professor Fizzwizzle tonight I finished Mummy Maze and all I can say is whew. . I hate getting addicted to a game its all I think about. I'm going to avoid another game for a while and try to get in to a book for a change.
ps both games were a hoot, if you like puzzle/maze type games that don't make you nauseous these are for you. Be prepared to give up some time (and sleep) getting them done.
Jack and I have since we moved here, gone to a little Thai Restaurant that we had come to love. It wasn't the food so much since really it was on the boring side of Thai, but because of the waitress/ part owner named Sandy, who always had us in stitches. For a long while we after Megan was born we switched to getting take out. About a year ago we started taking Megan there for dinner. She started eating just rice and the carrot garnish and soon was eating PAD SEE-EW and Tofu, and Broccoli. Pretty soon it was our regular friday night dinner.
A few weeks ago, we had something planned on Friday night so we switched to thursday. Sandy was happy to see us and dinner was nice. The next week we went back to friday only to discover the friday previous, Sandy had stormed out and left the restaurant for good. We ate our dinner as usual but all the while the place felt empty without her. We figured we'd never see Sandy again, and spent the whole meal explaining to Megan over and over that Sandy had moved on.
The next week we decided to branch out... so we tried Thai Garden in Hayward. It was pretty good but really too far to drive. This past friday we tried "Sala Thai" which was wonderful. The food was so fresh and just delicious. Jack and Megan at one point went off to the potty and I started chatty with the waitress telling her our saga of Sandy, and she giggled and said "Sandy's here now"... NO WAY! sure enough Sandy came out, and Megan gave her a big hug and we were so thrilled to have our Sandy back.
We told her how we decided to find a new place after she left and that we'd tried "Thai Garden" in Hayward the week before - "that's my sister's place" she informed us... so had I just told that waitress our saga we would have found Sandy sooner... It apparently was meant to be, as it turned out we now have a new , better friday night Thai place with our favorite waitress to boot.
Jack, Megan and I started going out to breakfast on the weekend a few months ago. We quickly discovered that the good places had a wait on Saturdays and Sundays but thanks to the church going crowd there is a window before 8:30 on Sunday that means we can get in at our new favorite place Waffles without the wait. I love breakfast out - but I won't stand in line waiting for it.
When we realized this morning that it was actually an hour later, we all busted a move - must beat the church folk. So forgoing showers we all jumped up and got dressed and got the heck out of the house. But as it turned out we had nothing to fear. ... seems even the church folk were running behind - when we left the restaurant at 9:15 there still wasn't a line. Looks like a few people missed church this morning.
Its is the little things that make life so much fun :)
