Bad Bad Blogger

I've been a bad blogger of late. No excuse really - just haven't felt much like sharing. Though we've had some great stories to share, like how Megan told everyone at school the other day while they were lining up and fighting over who would be first in line - "Guys Guys, it doesn't matter whose first - we are all the same!"

Or how she's been singing fairly non-stop of late, mostly Beauty and the Beast songs but she's thrown in a little "Short Skirt and Long Jacket" from Cake.

I could have also shared how we've been doing Themed dinners before Poker night, tonight is German, Last week was Spain, and the week before was France. The dinners have turned out really lovely. For France I made Beef Burgundy which was extremely labor intensive, but supper yummy. Spain I marinated Chicken and grilled it served with Saffron Rice. Jack has been doing desserts - for France he made Profiteroles and for Spain Lovely super thin pancakes with an Orange sauce.

I could also blog about how last week I had incredibly good cards at Poker night - for the first few hours I just couldn't loose - I was up to 50 Bucks at one point. But in the end of the night I was back down to a nice 35 - 25 over my buy in!

Gee is loving her sculpting and cooking classes. Jack put together a swing set last week - one of those big wooden ones. Oh and we installed a new low-flow toilet in Megan's bathroom which she loves showing people. It uses 1.6 gallons of water as opposed to our old one that used 7 gallons. Even if you occasionally have to flush twice the water savings are great.

I'll try to be a better blogger, but honestly my mood has to improve. I've been a little off lately, kind of sad with no apparent reason.

Wrong Police

I called the local police department today. I was driving down a road over the highway when I stopped at a red light so that people coming off the freeway could turn onto the road I was on. A woman just sat there while all the other cars honked and then went around her. Once the light changed and it was clear she proceeded to back up down the off ramp I guess to get on the freeway. I watched in disbelief as my light turned green and grabbed my cell phone. I have no idea if they reached her before she made it back on the freeway, but I did chuckle when the local police dispatch said "why didn't you just call 911 - its the CHP's job to handle that not ours." - you see i had thought to call our local police force since all 911 cell phone calls get routed to Sacramento's CHP office a good 2 hour drive away. Next time I see an idiot reversing an off ramp - i'll know better :)

Farm

After running some errands and a trip to the pool for a swim with Gee, we had lunch and then headed over to our local farm for the 3 pm tour w/ animal feeding. We got there too early and the ranger at the front gate suggested we high tail it through the park and catch the last horse drawn train from the other side back to the front. We Made it in time and stood and watched while they unhooked Tucker and brought him over for us to meet. Megan posed for a picture and Tucker got a whiff of the Megan's freshly washed hair and well the following pic says it all -Click here

We had a really great time after riding the train and then after saying farewell to Tucker we headed over and got to feed the sheep, and goats. The babies are very cute, they've recently had 2 sets of triplets born to some sheep along with several others. I took pictures of the cute babies but Jack who downloads the camera must not have been moved because they have disappeared.

We finished up watching in the blacksmith shop before heading back out. We did find out when the sheep shearing would be and I hope to take Gee back for that and maybe a house tour since I think she can probably handle going through the house now.

all the Gore details!

Jack and I had our most unusual date night last night. After Meeting with the accountant about our taxes for the first hour, we drove up to the city, parked then wondered around Nob HIll looking for anything to eat in 45 mins. We found a small deli, got sandwiches, hiked up a really steep hill and then sat outside the Masonic Center, listening to the lunatic Fringe. Once we finished inhaling we headed inside and presented our tickets for ... City Arts & Lectures will present an evening with Vice President Al Gore

He was funny, engaging and fascinating. Everything I never expected from him, till I saw his movie last year. He did start out kind of slow, with his every lick smack fully mic'd but once a heckler was removed from the audience, he lightened up and the mood of the whole group changed. It was a good hour of conversation and then he answered a few audience questions, but none that I would have asked. My questions is " will you be running for president next year?" but I knew he wouldn't really answer that and so I didn't bother filling out the form. I can't seem to find the schedule of when it will be on the radio but if you get City Arts on your local NPR keep your ear out for it.

found

When leaving the pool today I checked at the front desk and low and behold my missing earring had been found. I put it back in with a stopper I kept in my wallet - am I lucky or what?!
