A revised trailer for the Incredibles..., making it seem like a horror flick.
Enjoy!
Today was a good day - a great day even. First I managed to get up and get moving. I did my workout, watered the plants fed Megan and myself breakfast, and made it out of the house with time to spare. We drove over to the pool where despite not having a girl assistant today Megan was happy to get in and swim with her class (she was scared of her male instructor earlier in the week so they added a girl assistant for her). Megan said she wanted a hot dog for lunch so I called Jack to find out if Wienerschnitzel a fast food chain I've never been to was true to their name. he didn't answer so I called my dad and he looked it up on the internet, and assured me it was a hot dog place. So we headed over and I popped on the radio, only to hear "if your caller 9 you can win tickets!" my cell phone still in hand and the number programed in from when they were giving away sting tickets I called and no Shit I was caller 9!
I won tickets to see Amy Winehouse in September in San Francisco!.
We had lunch and then I dropped Megan off at Little Gym for Gymnastics camp and went to the theater next door and saw Ocean's 13 - which was great. I really enjoyed it. I think Knocked Up was by far funnier (which I saw wednesday with my friend Simone) Both movies get a thumbs up from me.
Jack told me about his sister's new favorite gadget The Furminator at lunch, so after I headed out and bought one, got home and tried it out on Oso - Damn if the video's aren't spot on - I've never seen so much hair come off an animal before- Our backyard now has piles of hair floating around and Oso really enjoyed it. He turned into all the brushing asking for more. It was amazing!
I love the picks of the animals with the hair that came off of them - the Newfie bring someone to mind .... hum who I wonder ...
I had a really lovely time. I use lovely way to much on this blog
We had a hiccup getting there but since Southwest over sold the flight but 2 volunteers took the money and we got on. Once we arrived we really had an easy time of it, saw 2 shows - Ka (Cirque) (awesome) and Wayne Brady (great for the first half, boring for the second), ate great food, including at Todd English's Olives. I spent a couple of hours in the poker room at the Mirage and managed to triple up my money before I went back to zero.
The highlight was probably the massage at the Bellagio. I had the most gorgeous man I've ever seen give me an hour long hot stone massage. After we just hung out and relaxed in the spa, soaking the tubs, reading magazines and trying out the steam room and sauna. It was so incredibly indulgent.
While I had a really wonderful time, now that i've done Vegas I don't think I want to go back. I hated the heat - we walked everywhere since cab lines were always 50 people long and traffic meant we could walk faster than the cabs anyway. I swelled up in the heat and ended up ringless all weekend. I hated the dudes on the street flicking there cards with numbers for hookers - really annoyed me. I hate smoke and walking through casinos and having your eyes start to water was annoying. And for a person who doesn't really like crowds, I was overwhelmed. I won't make a point of returning. Vegas just isn't for me.
As i was leaving Starbucks last night with my decaf mocha in hand on the way to a lecture on wills and trust put on my mothers club, I over heard 2 girls talking to each other about a poster on the door. A poster of Paul McCartney one said to the other who the heck is that, and the the other replied she had no idea. At which time a store employee said you know the guy from the Beatles, and both girls looked at him blankly and replied who are they??????!
The relay for Life is at the end of the month. I thought I'd throw this up for another run at getting sponsors. I'm scheduled to walk from 10 to midnight for my team, i'll probably hang out for much longer and cover any potty breaks the walkers need or just keep the walker on the track company.
Anyway, please donate if you can, and thank you to my supporters! (So far that just you Jacqueline!)
I started out this morning, dropping the sugar canister in the kitchen. Once again I was thankful for the Dyson. At first I was worried about vacuuming the fine particles of sugar - about 3 lbs worth. But then I realized that I use powdered carpet fresh and sugar is no finer than that so I went ahead and ran it in the kitchen. Then I took Megan to school and headed off to the pool for an hour swim.
After we picked up lunch at a place that gives milk in a cup (with lid and straw) for kids in their meals - Togo's for those that have them close. Upon returning to the car Megan missed her cup holder and dropped a full 8 oz's of milk in my car - yuck.
I mopped up what I could and when we got home I used the before mentioned carpet fresh to absorb the liquid and start combating the sour milk smell that will ensue.
Once home I started working on the poker night feast. I made the Barefoot Contessa's Roasted Shrimp with Orzo. Then I finished vacuuming and ran a wet mop. I had a moment to relax and check email before we dashed off to Megan's dentist appointment.
Megan did beautifully. She held my hand throughout her cleaning and was a real trooper. They didn't try to take x ray's of Molars- just stuck to the front and they took Megan step by step through what they would do showing her each instrument and giving her a chance to touch it with her hand before it went in her mouth. The end result was a very calm child. Unlike Megan's last 2 dental experiences at a so called Pediatric dentist. So now our whole family goes to one practice and I for one think that is the way it should be.
Once home i could relax, since I only had the steak to grill to go with the salad - Surf and Turf was my theme. I went simple with the Top Sirloin, just putting salt and pepper on it. I brought it to room temp first, seasoned and then grilled. It was the tenderest piece of beef we've ever done. The salad was really yummy too.
Ending on a high Poker was a blast, and I'm not just saying that because someone went all in ahead of me when I had the nut and 3 other people called! It was just a great night of joking and conversation.
Now I think I should sleep!
