shaking

Just as I was putting Megan down for bed, we had an earthquake. Megan and I went for her door just as Jack was coming in to get us and then it was over. Some dishes I'd stacked in the dish drain fell over, and the dogs food storage container fell on the floor - but thats it.

Megan went down despite the experience and is sleeping soundly.

Now I will go and be rocked to sleep - gotta love aftershocks.

Happy Birthday my darling Princess!

Megan turned five today! She is so grown up, and yet still my baby. We had a big party this past sunday. She Ask for a bounce house and all her friends, cupcakes and balloons. The theme was Groovy Girls which is a doll line. We had a really great time. I made appetizers and salad, Jack made the cupcakes with home made candy flowers, and then we had Pizza from a local place. We had a great turn out too.

We made her wait to open all her gifts till today. (well there were 2 exceptions)

Then each day this week, we done something birthday celebratory. On Monday during dance class she got to open another gift, from a friend who'd missed the party. Wednesday we met a friend at the park and she got to open another present. We also went to Borders and picked out a Book to donate in Megan's name to her class room on her birthday.

And then today - she woke up early and climbed into my bed, we cuddled while Jack and I sang her "Happy Birthday" We had a quiet morning, a little home work, etc, and got dressed and readied her for picture day at school. While she was in school, I baked some cookies, and when I picked her up I brought her a balloon and we headed off to meet Play group at the park. When we came home, she opened all her gifts, and then headed off to Megan's choice for dinner - Sushi! Jack had gone ahead of time and dropped off a small cake and the restaurant lady went out and got another balloon so our birthday girl was officially spoiled!

Tomorrow - we have a halloween party, Saturday the Un-Haunted house at our local nature center, So the festivities will continue.

Update

I saw my ortho doc this morning. I'm still in the boot, but can gradually get out of it and move over to a hard bottom ortho shoe. He said I should wait though till I start Physical Therapy and they can't see me till monday so its the boot till then. Physical therapy will be for the next month twice a week. Man I can't believe I did this to myself.

Another recommendation

Its been a while since I did an ode to the Dyson, which I still Love and use .

Now its time to recommend Carbona Dye Grabber. I'm sure piece of terry cloth would probably do the trick as well, but this thing really pulls the loose dye out of the wash and helps keep our clothes from looking dingy. I found them cheaper on Amazon, but linked to the company's website so that if your interested you can see all the other neat products they make.

Excellent Sunday!

First off today was the first film club of the new season and the film was spectacular- Should be oscar worthy! The film was Man in the Chair. It comes out December 7th and I hope if it makes it to main stream theaters, you give it a shot.

I rushed home, grabbed lunch and then Megan and I went to our friend Nilma and Esha's house for a Rangoli party. Its an indian festival to celebrate colors, and its a time for Mom's and daughters to do art together. We had a lovely time, the girls decorated murals with colored rice, and did sand stamping. Then we had some Indian snacks. It was just a lovely afternoon with some moms and girls.

I'm amazed

At how weak my ankle feels, and at how little range of movement I have.

I actually feel weaker in the leg then when I had the cast on. The boot makes me feel stronger, but taking it off and I feel as though I can't hold my toes up. sleep will be interesting tonight.

ITS OFF! ... OR THE RETURN OF THE BOOT

The break is healed. I saw the x ray this morning and the fracture on the bottom of the bone is gone and the complete break on the top is back together, though that part of the bone was lighter in color then the rest of it, so I've been instructed to limit weight on it and go gradual. I have to wear the boot for 2 weeks. I go back in for more x rays on the 23rd and if all is well I'll be able to walk out in my normal shoes (though he is threatening me with orthopedic ones)

I still am to use the crutch for a couple more days but can taper off it as I feel my muscles gaining strength.

My leg hair had never been so long (a fact I quickly remedied when I got home) and the sweat had pooled on my heal basically rotting off all the callus i'd built up. I"ll probably stick to a sock in the boot to try to keep the oder down and the foot dry. - these boots are made out of padding that doesn't really breath so it'll be really nice to take it off all night long!

Still here

I know I promised a month of boring updates on how bored I am, but I guess i've just been too bored to blog!

The foot is still in cast. I now don't feel any pain in my ankle but I still feel pain in the brake point - especially when the damn cast comes to rest on that spot. My favorite way to fall asleep is to spoon Oso - who sleeps between Jack and myself. But to spoon him I have to sleep with the break against the bed which pushes the cast against it- Not comfortable right now.

I'm counting the days until the darn thing comes off, but I don't want to get my hopes up in case the doctor says I have to live in a cast longer.

I've started planning Megan's b-day party which will be on the 21st - 2 weeks after the cast comes off.
If I have to stay in it, that will put a major crimp in things - - It just can't happen. I'm so done being a gimp.

Had 2 lovely dinners out with my mom's group - the first was a board thank you dinner last week, and the other was a the whole club end of year dinner at a Japanese place last night.

I've had the new fall tv season to keep me company. Love Gossip Girl, Chuck, Tourchwood, and Reaper. Like Journeyman and Moonlight. I'm giving up on Cane and didn't even bother with Bionic Woman.

New season of House, Weeds, Numbers, CSI, Heros - all good and ER - my one hour a week when i'm back with my mom watching her favorite show, its great that its still on the air - I love ER.

I'm more than a little annoyed that our leader vetoed the child health insurance bill - SHAME ON YOU Mr Bush - your legacy as our worst president reigns. I hope the House and senate over ride it.
