Megan and I both had doctor appointments today. Megan had her 5 year check up. She was so proud to be able to take her temp under her tongue. While we waited for the doctor she twirled around in her paper gown. Megan lit up when the doctor came in, and She entertained her singing songs from school and retelling Annie in great detail. At the end of the exam, after her doctor informed her she is "Practically Perfect", Megan smiled coyly and said "I know". She got a Flu shot and as we headed out and bumped into doctor again, and Megan ran over and gave her a big hug.
After I dropped her a school, I then headed out to my ortho. He assured me that i've recovered and unless I'm in pain after the new year, I'm done. Despite a fax from my PT, he and I agreed that I could go with out more PT. I'll just continue doing what I've been doing - Ice, stretching etc. Until my foot feels so good I forget to do what i've been doing.
When I picked Megan up at school I told her teacher I had an all clear and could now volunteer in the class, I start this thursday! i'll be there for about an hour.
I've been watching General Hospital off and on since I was in the 2nd grade. Thanks to a broken foot I've been sucked back in and today Bobbie Spenser Jones etc played by Jacklyn Zeman was on for the first time in months and she looked horrible! Here she is back in the day -

Now here she is more recently
.
Somebody needs to turn off the plastic surgery - she doesn't look real anymore, the picture doesn't really do it justice - when she's animated on screen she looks downright scary.
I remember my grandfather commenting on her being a delicious red head.
I managed to hurt my ankle. Yes the same one - not entirely sure what I did but my PT guy says I've just been over doing it. I think it might have been the 100 or so steps to the top of the theater at film club yesterday - I wanted to sit with friends and they were in the back. So PT today was easy - after last thursday where I really pushed it. I really thought I was close to getting over this darn thing. So its ice, ice, ice and take it easy.
The film for film club was excellent -but very hard to watch. It was called The Savages and stars Laura Linney and Philip Seymor Hoffman as siblings who must come together and take care of their dying father.
Megan is sick ... AGAIN! - stuffy nose and fever. She spent her first day of the break in my bed watching movies and snoozing.
Enjoy, Sorry I didn't get any of Doodlebug - honest he was there! (He actually took the great one of Me and Megan!)

I'm lucky enough to live in San Francisco which has draws for both my brother's work. This week Doodlebug came calling. He was here for a big conference in the city, and we spent all day sunday together. We managed to walk on the golden gate bridge which I've never even attempted because the parking lot is always full - the benefit of having a temporary handycap placard, I had spots to park now.
We also tooled around Sausalito, and watched The Rocker do his magic. He was tickled by Megan and wanted to show her how, but he was also a tad creepy and she hid behind me as quickly as possible. So he ended up cheering me on as I stacked the rocks. We ended the day driving to our favorite sushi restaurant in San Francisco Ebisu but alas it was closed so we went to one 2 doors down which was cheap - and just ok. (Side note - we had a wonderful new years eve at Ebisu with some very drunk sushi chefs and 2 very good friends - like 7 years ago - maybe more.)
Doodle was busy during the week, and he missed giving us his money during Poker night, but when the conference ended he and his two co-workers took bart down to UC and we all hung out with Jack and Mel and 3 bottles of pretty darn good wine if I do say so myself - I picked them out - based entirely on the names - Justin in honor of my sweet nephew, another called Firefly from the central coast. I can't remember the third and i'm too lazy to go find the bottle in the recycling.
It was great seeing my dear D Bug, I only wish we lived closer so that we could see the whole Bug family.
Megan has started Ice skating Lessons. She was scared to go but once the skates were on she was so excited and she loved it. When she got off the ice, after 45 minutes of total concentration, she was yawning and slept well that night. Not the best pics but here's two I clicked with my iphone through very scratched up plexi glass.

Megan is working on her 3rd sniffly cough since starting kindergarten. Its amazing that its only the beginning of November! She hasn't missed any school because so far - knock knock - no fever associated with any of these colds.
I'm doing better with my foot- I'm still mostly wear the boot out and about but am trying the shoe around the house. Seriously though there isn't much to the shoe it just won't let me flex my foot. My therapist recommended getting an ankle wrap to wear with it and to just carry the boot in the car - maybe then i'll be more willing to try. i have until tuesday next week before I see him again so that's almost a whole week to get walking. Physical therapy is exhausting. The days I finish it I'm ready to just crash after. Today was particularly grueling because I had a filling fixed (loose childhood metal filling) before and had to contend with drool and all that. I managed most of the exercises with little trouble, and the stim machine - the electrodes they place on your injury while icing or heating- well I can feel them - which I couldn't in the beginning so I figure that means blood flow has picked up and nerve endings are waking.
