This ad from Burger King is not only real but just so wrong. ..
just take a look at the poor onions face, the fact that the guy with the glove looks to really be enjoying his job or the pleasure of other pickle. Not to mention the title and covers of the magazines they dumped out of his bag. I'm so glad I didn't come across this one in a an actual BK with Megan and had to explain any of it to her...
but wait there's more ...
and Halloween
I spent college drinking, until I turned 21 and then it stopped being fun because there was no challenge, I could go anywhere and get a drink I no longer really drank except occasionally - until we moved to Oz and I tried to keep up with the Aussies. I totally think University Presidents are on to something. Sure there will still be drinking - but if its no longer illegal and taboo - then it will loose some of its attraction. And it just makes since to move the age to 18. If your old enough to vote and die for our country then you should be old enough to drink.
We're keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Fay - she's heading straight for us here in Florida and we are scheduled to go home Wednesday. Though we have been having a great visit, we both miss Jack and the dogs so much we don't want our trip home delayed.
The Cousins all headed to South Florida last week so Megan and went down to Orlando for a night and enjoyed Medieval Times. We rooted for the Black and White Knight and he even threw a flower at Megan. Here are 8 pictures from the night - one of our knight and the rest of our girl (well one of me with her) she had a great time till our Knight got his butt kicked then she seemed a bit bored - until the prince came back and defeated the evil knight and then all was right with the world.

Then we spent the night in a hotel before spending the next day at Magic Kingdom - More on that later.
Mike, Missy and I took the kids down to Weeki Wachee today for some fun in the sun. We arrived just after 11 so we had to wait till 3 to see the mermaid show. But we did a boat ride and wondered around before enjoying the delights of Buccaneer Bay. The water park is a natural spring with water at 74.2 degrees year round. THe kids all loved the slides and jumping from the floating dock.
Megan got turned on one of the slides and took it very personally when the life guard told her she shouldn't do that or they wouldn't let her slide anymore. She then tried to do some different slides and was told she was too short (by less then 1/2 of an inch!) She's basically right on the 48 inch line and sometimes she's measured above and others below. By the time she'd walked back down the steps she was in tears, but managed to dry them up and head back over to the slides she'd been doing to go again.
We ended the day with what Missy called "Gouda, brie, mozzarella, and cheddar all rolled into one" - the mermaid show that Weeki Wachee is famous for.

2 nights ago Robin and her 2 girls rolled in. I can't believe they both have now graduated from High school, or that Sam is going to be 21 next month!
We hung out all day yesterday. Robin and I cooked dinner for everyone while Dad and Pat headed to Mass in the afternoon. I made Beer Butt Chicken and Bread, while Robin made a salad and entertained me. The Girls entertained Megan who was so tired last night that she literally fell asleep before I got out of the room.
Robin and the girls and I stayed up watching Olympics, playing Parcheesi and waiting for Mike and his crew to arrive from Texas. They basically drove the whole day to get here and pulled in around 1 am.
Today we're off to breakfast first and then lots of hanging and reminiscing. Robing and the girls head home today, but the texas cousins will have lots of time to play with Megan this week.
We arrived in Florida today for a couple of weeks vacation, leaving Jack and the dogs alone back home.
And Megan who has been asking a million questions a day asked the following?
"Mom - why do Grandpa and Mumsie live where it is so hot?" "Do they really like to swim?"
and again later she asked " why is Florida so HOT?" I need some paper so I can make a fan!
This kid has spent every day in the natural A/C that is california - with our occasional hot day that are hot and dry which is very different from anything with humidity.
On the side - United changed our seat assignments so that we weren't actually sitting together on either flight - the first one we were a row apart and a nice young man changed seats with me so that Megan and I could sit together. On the second I was in row 39 and Megan was in row 1. We landed in Denver and had about an hour to get across the terminal. In that hour we hit the head, grabbed some togo sandwiches for the plane and bought a "PRincess Belle" add on for Megan's Crocks. When we arrived at our gate they were just beginning boarding. I made my way to the agent and asked if she could reseat us. She looked at our bag of food and said -" You Should have come straight here - not gone and bought food!" The best she could do she said was put us a row apart. So she did and when we got on (by this time we were the last to board) I had 4 people in 2 rows to asked if someone would switch us. One guys gave me a pissed look and shook his head no - the woman next to him said "No Way!" and the guy in front of them wouldn't even look at me. It was a kind man in his early 30's who probably has a kid or 2 Megan's age who said "of course and jumped up from the window and moved back a row. - I'm so grateful for him, but really, I'm amazed at the other 3 people.
You may have noticed that the last few days of pics Megan has had flowers in her hair. Its all because of her latest obsession Clean House, and more to the point the host Niecy Nash. Our child has been running around singing "Who wants a Clean House..." and "If you live in the Los Angeles".
It all started with an ad while we were watching some other show - for the Messiest House in America episode, and so I did a quick search and Tivo'd it. We had so much fun being grossed out that we set a season pass and have been catching up on 8 years of episodes. Megan wants more than anything to be a guest on the show, however we don't live in LA and we don't actually have a clutter home. Actually every time Jack and I sit down and watch an episode we spend the hour afterwards cleaning and getting rid of stuff. Its proving to be very therapeutic. Even Megan happily cleans her room when we say - what would Niecy say to all your "Mayhem and Foolishness!"?
A week or so ago while at our local mall, Megan noticed some flower clips for hair at a little kiosk. They were crazy expensive, but it gave me the idea and when we were next at Jo-Anne's I picked up so plain clips and some silk flowers - Hot Glue gun Later and Megan has been wearing them since. Its part of her style!
Catch the show if you dare - the new season premieres on August 6th (On the style Network)
