Really

I heard today the Republicans are worried about a Obama Pelosi, Reid Government, (Palin mentioned this in a speach) -

well damn - if you guys were so worried you shouldn't have tanked our country over the last 8 years!

a few things I just don't understand...

I DON'T UNDERSTAND undecided voters - Are you asleep????

David Sedaris says it best...

"To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."

I DON'T UNDERSTAND proposition 8. Would someone please tell me how two people who love each other and get married but happen to be of the same sex hurt my marriage - why the hell does my marriage need to be protected?

Legalized Gay Marriage doesn't mean churches must preform the marriage - Churches can still decide for themselves but it means marriage is available for all, and it means my friends don't have to get married again and again each time the law changes. I know heterosexual people who have had bad marriages, divorced several times and yet still have the right to do it again and again, yet I know gay people who have been together for years and years, and I'm just sick that anyone would deny them any rights.

Gay Marriage doesn't hurt anyone!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND Anyone voting for McCain at this moment in time. He has just seemed so out of touch and the thought of Palin replacing him makes me absolutely shudder.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND why Hillary keeps asking me for donations - I supported her but now that she's out she's out! and I know she's in debt -but any money I donate now would goto Obama so that he can win!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND anyone who doesn't realize now after 8 years of Bush, that we had it a hell of alot better under Clinton - Even with Lewinsky!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND the continued games to keep people from voting - how stupid do they think we are?

I DON'T UNDERSTAND CBS and ABC making CSI and Grey's last one minute longer so that ER won't record unless I do a manual record - Very annoying!

Note to self...

Don't leave Oso alone in the kitchen - he gets stuck on the rug and can't seem to break free - and i'm not even joking ...

Poor guy seems to be having issues (either nurological or eye sight related) but basically he gets himself on the rug of the kitchen and day or night ends up freaking out until someone comes talks him out of the corner (or shows him the way out).

About 5 mins ago Jack came out of the office and went in the kitchen for an apple. Oso followed him in and didn't follow him out- Jack returned to the office and next thing I know I hear his nails hitting the floor and then him backing up on the rug - We've been joking that its like Lava is on the floor, but really it seems more serious, and its a new behavior for an already strange dog.

A week ago he walked into a box that was in the kitchen. He backed up surprised by it, and then walked into it again. He then didn't trust himself to walk forward and started whining - That's when I figured he must be going blind in his old age.

Let see - 7 years for one of ours - and he's about 9 that makes him only 63. But you have to add a few years for all the anxiety, and a few more for getting hit by a car when he was a year old. But still that's not that old. So who knows- I take him to the vet on thursday - I will probably be told I'm crazy.

Sailing ...

Saturday was glorious. We went sailing on a catamaran with our dear friends Jon, Pam and Yvonne and all the kids. Molly missed out because she broke her foot. We all missed you Molly!

The day was perfect. Sunny, windy, a tad chilly. An hour before I took some Dramamine so as to actually enjoy the trip. We made it with minutes to spare and joined everyone on the boat. We passed Seals on the dock and got to the boat which was a beautiful big Catamaran. Once we were underway and out of the dock area, the motor was turned off, the sails were unfurled and we went around Alcatraz Island and out under the Golden Gate Bridge.

The ride out was bumpy and wet with lots of giggles and we all got splashed, but the return trip was smoother and the kids got to enjoy the netted openings on the front of the boat - bouncing and laying down. It was just such a great day. I can't recommend it more.

After we got off the boat we headed over to the Mission were Molly got to join us and we all had a lovely thai dinner. Great company!

When we got home, I crashed. A cross between the Dramamine and the sake at dinner I slept 12 hours straight! - A record for me since turning 30!

Loving my cutting table

I finished cutting all the fabric for the costume. There are 12 separate pieces that make up this pattern and some of them were cut 3 times! So cutting has been a chore, but it has also made me so grateful that I bought the cutting table that I have no room for - I could lay out pieces all at once because the table can be made to be big enough, and this was just such a huge improvement over previously projects. I also could leave it at a moments notice and not have to worry about clearing it for dinner, or have to clean the table each time I wanted to cut. I was feeling a bit silly for it but this project clearly put it to use, and I've only just begun.

Note to self...

Always read the label! I just spent an hour cutting and labeling fabric for Megan's costume, and I labeled it all with what I thought was a water erasable pen. But I noticed as I stacked it in the end I saw no markings on the first peices ... because...

I was using an air erasable pen!

Damn that - I didn't even know they made those let alone sell them to poor unsuspecting non-label readers like me!

School days are busy days...

Megan is only taking 2 extra classes, Ice Skating, and Gymnastics. Yet I feel so busy. Yesterday she had her once a month nature class at Sulpher creek, where I took the following picture.

Yes she is holding a tarantula! Apparently they are all over this area.

After I rushed home and dropped her off before heading over to the monthly PTC meeting. I think I feel overwhelmed because I have to get her party organized and make her costume. And yet here I sit - cleaning out the tivo and surfing the web - guess the pressure isn't on enough yet.

2 hours... later

For 2 hours tonight I filled my brain with tax info - AMT, Gross, Adjusted, Deductions and the like ... and those 2 hours everyone else was probably watching Palin and Biden go at it. I did get to listen to the first bit in the car before class, and I thought Sara sounded Poised and well rehearsed. Joe on the other hand sounded presidential. - He actually sounded so knowledgeable. They both were likable. But she didn't answer a single question that I heard and he at least tried to. The difference for me was already clear. I don't want to continue the policies of the last 8 years, and there is no way I could vote for that. I really can't understand anyone who can vote for the same same same. It is all about change and no matter how much McCain and Palin say they are all about change the fact that they are in line with the current administration show just how the same they are!

Honestly - despite my husband, I'm not 100 % sure of Obama, but he is a damn sight better than the alternative - and none of the 3rd party candidates stand a chance. We shall see I guess.

I did tivo it but honestly with all the opinions out already I don't think I'll sit down tomorrow and listen to it all the way through like I would have if I was home. I said during the Obama/McCain debate that I like listening to the debate and deciding for myself who I think won before the talking points turn on at the end and tell me who I think I should think won. Often I surprise myself. Like tonight - I was all set to hate Palin - the same way I detest W every time he speaks - I have to change the channel - I just can't stand his voice - its too Beavis or is it Butthead!

Enough - I'm off to bed

Back to school... For Me..

I've signed myself up for a class at Stanford - continuing ed. Its a fascinating class on Financial Planning. I had the first lesson last week and was really engrossed in the conversation - given the current financial Market crisis its an interesting time to list to someone talk about the subject.

Tooth...

Megan's first tooth story got lost in the blogging nightmare - or rather the provider of our sites "upgrades". Time to look for a new provider I think, but that isn't my department.

Anywho - Megan lost her first tooth at a b-day party last week. She actually pulled it out herself...

I'll repost the pic here as soon as I figure out how again. Jack - macfusion won't connect to muttmansion.

on the quilt front - I finished the quilt finally and will post a picture of that as soon as I get the above mentioned problem settled and actually take a picture. For now you can enjoy this ... my level of liberalism explained (or exposed!)

How to Win a Fight With a Conservative is the ultimate survival guide for political arguments

My Liberal Identity:

You are a New Left Hipster, also known as a MoveOn.org liberal, a Netroots activist, or a Daily Show fanatic. You believe that if we really want to defend American values, conservatives must be exposed, mocked, and assailed for every fanatical, puritanical, warmongering, Constitution-shredding ideal for which they stand.
