There are several spots to get paper in the Bay Area. In San Francisco you can go to Flax or go to Japan Town. There are two good paper shops in Japan Town.

There is also a Japanese gift store called Maido in Palo Alto near Stanford that is well stocked.

There is also a great Japanese paper store on 4th Street in Berkeley near Bette Diner.
